Save-the-dates let your guests know that they are going to be invited to your wedding in the coming months, along with sharing basic date and location information. Depending on how soon your wedding is after your engagement will affect the urgency of sending save-the-dates. For instance, if you are doing a short engagement of four months then it’s better to just send your invitations. But if your wedding is a year out, then save-the-dates would be a great way to get the word out in advance.

Another thing to consider is the amount of money you’re wanting to spend on paper goods. Creating and sending save-the-dates is another expense that you’ll have to build into your wedding budget. This can cost you an extra few hundred dollars.

All in all, it’s important to remember that there are no set-in-stone rules you must follow when planning your wedding. Do what makes you feel most content and happy. After all, this is your day!
